Do we really need an entire app for that?
Apps dominated the last 5 years. “There’s an app for that” became a real thing. At some point though, downloading another app and re-entering the same preferences, became a nuisance and app discovery is a real problem. Apps are amazing for some things but do we really need an entire app to:
- book a restaurant reservation…
- discover what food can be delivered…
- hire a courier…
- book a hotel…
- buy a concert ticket…
- send flowers…
- check transit options…
- etc, etc, etc…
This was a tough year for apps. 66% of US smartphone users download zero apps per month. On top of that, apps can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to build, even more to maintain, and design changes can take months.
Yet, the amount of services coming online is increasing rapidly and discovery is a real problem.
The future isn’t about just apps, it’s about the simplest way to access and use and discover all of these services. And that’s via chat.
